Delete your account or data

Shift Amp is scheduling software your employer uses to run its team. That means there are two kinds of information about you here, and deletion works differently for each. Your account is yours, and you can delete it whenever you want. Your work records belong to your employer, and the law requires them to keep some of those for several years. This page explains both and how to make a request.

Delete your account yourself

The fastest path: sign in at app.shiftamp.com/account and choose Close account. It takes about a minute, and you don't need to contact anyone.

Closing your account ends your sessions everywhere, removes your name and email, and deletes your notification and calendar links. It doesn't notify your employer, and it doesn't change your employment records. It also isn't a resignation: if you still work somewhere, they can send you a new invitation later.

Or ask us by email

Email support@shiftamp.com from the email address on your account with the subject "Data deletion request." We'll reply to confirm the request is really coming from you, since we can't act on requests we can't verify. Most verified requests are completed within 30 days.

What we delete when you ask

  • Your sign-in account: credentials, sessions, and settings
  • Your profile photos
  • Your notification preferences and push registrations
  • Your calendar feed links
  • Any contact record on our side, like the one behind our emails to you

If you no longer work at an organization on Shift Amp, we'll also remove your name, email, and phone number from that employer's roster, along with the map coordinates from any location-checked clock-ins, once that employer confirms the request. Your remaining work history stays in their account without identifying you wherever the law allows.

What we can't delete, and why

Employers are legally required to keep payroll and time records, in most states for two to six years. Schedules, time cards, and clock-in and clock-out times are your employer's business records, and we store them on your employer's behalf. So:

  • Schedules, shifts, and time card history stay in your employer's account. Where the law doesn't require your name on them, we remove it.
  • Payroll export files keep your name, because payroll records are required by law to identify the employee.
  • Messages you sent to coworkers stay in those conversations, the same way a sent email stays in the recipient's inbox.

One note on location: if your employer uses clock-in location checks, the coordinates are captured only at clock-in and clock-out, are visible only to your employer's administrators, and are removed on request and automatically after two years. The punch times themselves are part of your time records.

Records your employer controls

Your employer decides what's on its roster and in its records, the same way it does for its own files. While you work there, requests about your employment records go to your employer, not to us. If you've left, ask your former employer to confirm your deletion request with us; once they do, we handle the rest as described above.

Worked at more than one employer on Shift Amp?

Each employer's records are separate, so make the request with each one. Your sign-in account is a single thing, though: deleting it covers every organization at once.
