Change your availability for one day
In the app, open Manage availability and select Request exception. Choose the date, then whether you're unavailable all day or free only at set times.
If one day is different from your usual week, such as a class or an appointment, ask for a date exception instead of changing your whole availability. Your manager reviews it, unless your workplace applies availability changes without approval.
Ask for a date exception
- Select the More tab (three dots), then select Manage availability.
- Under Date exceptions, select Request exception. The Date exception screen opens.
- Choose the Date.
- Choose Unavailable all day or Only at set times.
- For set times, set the start and end of the time you can work under Available times. Select Add interval to add another time, or Remove to delete one.
- Select Submit for approval.
You're back on the Availability screen. The exception is listed under Date exceptions with its date and "Pending" until your manager decides. If your workplace applies changes without approval, it's approved straight away.
What happens next
- When your manager decides, you get an Availability exception approved or Availability exception denied notification. If it's denied, your manager's reason appears under Past date exceptions on the Availability screen.
- An approved exception doesn't change shifts you already have that day. If you can't work one, talk to your manager or ask someone to cover your shift.
Cancel a pending exception
- Select the More tab, then Manage availability.
- Under Date exceptions, find the exception and select Cancel request.
"Request cancelled." appears. Each date can have only one exception waiting, so cancel a pending one before you ask again for the same date.
Exception or time off?
A date exception changes when you're available to work. To take a day off, such as a vacation day or a sick day, request time off instead. See Request time off.
If you don't see Request exception, your workplace doesn't take date exceptions in the app, or your manager keeps your availability for you. Talk to your manager about the change.
