Update your availability
In the app, open More, then Manage availability. Set the hours you can work each week and the date a change starts, and your manager approves it.
Your availability is when you're normally free to work each week, and your manager schedules you around it. It stays in effect until you change it. You change it in the Shift Amp app, and your manager approves each change unless your workplace applies changes without approval.
Set or change your availability
- Select the More tab (three dots), then select Manage availability. The Availability screen opens.
- Select Set availability the first time, or Change availability after that.
- If you're changing it, choose the date it starts under Start this on. Your first availability starts today.
- For each day you can work, set the start and end time of each window. Select Add window to add one, or Remove to delete one. Leave a day empty if you can't work that day; it reads "Unavailable".
- Select Save availability the first time, or Submit change.
You're back on the Availability screen. Until your manager decides, the change is marked "Pending", with the date it starts. If your workplace applies changes without approval, it takes effect on that date without waiting.
You always send a whole week. When you change it, the form starts from your current week, so change only the days that are different. Your current availability applies right up until the new one starts.
For a window that runs past midnight, pick an end time earlier than the start. For example, 10:00 PM to 2:00 AM ends the next morning.
What happens next
- When your manager decides, you get an Availability approved notification that says when the new availability takes effect, or Availability denied. If it's denied, your manager's reason appears under History on the Availability screen.
- Shifts you already have don't change. If you can't work one, talk to your manager or ask someone to cover your shift.
Cancel a pending change
- Select the More tab, then Manage availability.
- In the pending change, select Cancel change.
"Change cancelled." appears, and your current availability stays as it is.
If you can't change your availability
If there's no Set availability or Change availability, and no change is pending, your manager keeps your availability up to date. The Availability screen says why: "Set by your manager" with their reason, that your manager set it and locked it, or that your workplace sets availability for you. Talk to your manager about any change.
For a single day that's different, see Change your availability for one day.
