Swap a shift with a coworker

A swap trades one of your shifts for one of a coworker's. Your coworker has to accept, and then a manager has to approve. Until a manager approves, you both keep your own shifts.

Propose a swap

1. Select the Schedule tab (the calendar icon).
2. Find the shift you want to give up, then select ⋯ at the top right of its card. The Shift options menu opens.
3. Select Propose swap. You see the coworkers' shifts you could trade for.
4. On the shift you want, select Propose swap.
5. Check what You give and You take, then select Send proposal.
6. Select My swaps to follow it, or Done.

Only shifts that you and your coworker could each work are listed. Your coworker gets a Shift swap proposed notification and answers in the app.

Follow your swap

Select the More tab (three dots), then My swaps. You can also select View in My swaps on the shift's card. Each swap shows a status:

• Awaiting coworker: your coworker hasn't answered yet.
• Awaiting manager: your coworker accepted, and a manager still has to approve.
• Approved: the swap went through, and the shift you took is on your schedule.
• Declined or Denied: your coworker or a manager said no. You keep your shift.
• Cancelled: the proposal was withdrawn.
• Expired: one of the shifts started before a decision. Nothing changed.

You're notified when your coworker accepts (Swap accepted by your coworker) or says no (Swap declined), and when a manager decides (Swap approved or Swap denied). A swap that expires sends no notification.

Withdraw a swap

1. In My swaps, find your proposal.
2. Select Withdraw proposal.

There's no confirmation. You can withdraw any time before a manager decides, even after your coworker has accepted. Your coworker gets a Swap withdrawn notification.

If you can't swap

Propose swap isn't in the menu if:

• the shift has already started;
• the shift already has a coverage request, swap or offer in progress;
• your workplace has turned off swaps.

If the app says "No swappable shifts right now", no coworker's shift works as a trade at the moment. Your workplace may also keep swaps to the same location or position, or to shifts close together, which shortens the list.
