Answer a swap or offer
In the app, open My swaps or My offers and accept or decline. Saying yes changes nothing until a manager approves it.
When a coworker wants to trade shifts with you, or asks you to take one of their shifts, you answer in the Shift Amp app. Saying yes doesn't move anything yet: a manager still has to approve it. Until then, everyone keeps the shifts they have.
Answer a swap
- Select the Shift swap proposed notification. Or select the More tab (three dots), then My swaps.
- Find the swap your coworker proposed to you. Its status reads Awaiting coworker, because they're waiting for you.
- Check what You give (your shift) and what You take (theirs).
- Select Accept swap or Decline.
There's no confirmation, and your coworker is notified either way. After you accept, the status reads Awaiting manager, and you both keep your current shifts until a manager decides.
When a manager decides, you get Swap approved, and the shift you took is on your Schedule tab (the calendar icon). Or you get Swap denied, and nothing changes. If either shift starts before a decision, the swap expires and nothing changes.
Answer an offer
- Select the A coworker offered you a shift notification. Or select the More tab, then My offers.
- Find the offer your coworker sent you. It shows the shift, any message they wrote, and how much time you have left to answer.
- Select Take this shift or Can't take it.
There's no confirmation, and your coworker is notified either way. If you take it, the offer shows Awaiting manager, and the shift stays with your coworker until a manager approves. Then you get The shift is yours, and it appears on your Schedule tab. If a manager says no, you get Shift offer denied.
If you don't answer in time, the offer expires and you get A shift offer expired. Nothing changes for you.
If you can't accept
Accepting checks again that you can work the shift. If something has changed since your coworker asked, such as a new overlapping shift or approved time off, the app won't let you accept.
The buttons also disappear once the request is settled: when your coworker withdraws it (Swap withdrawn or Shift offer withdrawn), when it expires, or after you've answered.
