Tell your manager you forgot to clock in

For staffUpdated 2 min read

If you worked without clocking in, use Report a shift with no punches in the app. Your manager decides whether to add the entry, and you're notified.

If you worked a shift but never clocked in, tell your manager through the Shift Amp app so they can add the entry. The report adds no hours by itself: a manager records the entry, and you're notified of the decision. You can send this report only from the app, and only if your workplace takes reports in Shift Amp.

Report the shift in the app

  1. Select the Today tab (the house icon), then select Time clock.
  2. Select View time history.
  3. At the bottom, select Report a shift with no punches.
  4. If you like, fill in when you worked: the date as year-month-day, such as 2026-10-05, and your start and finish times on a 24-hour clock, such as 06:00 and 14:00.
  5. In the box below, explain what happened.
  6. Select Send report, then Done.

What happens next

Your report goes to your managers. When one of them decides, you get a notification:

  • Time correction approved: your manager added the entry. It shows in your time history.
  • Time correction reviewed: your manager didn't add an entry.
  • Time correction resolved: your manager dealt with it another way.

This kind of report isn't listed in your time history, so the notification is how you hear back. If you need to know more, ask your manager.

If you're still at work

Clock in now, so the rest of your shift is recorded. Then report the right start time on that entry with Clock-in time is wrong. See Report a problem with a time entry.

If you clocked in but forgot to clock out

Your entry already exists, so report it on that entry with I forgot to clock out, and include the time you left. See Report a problem with a time entry.

On the web

The web time clock can't report a shift with no punches. Use the app, or tell your manager directly.
